Puppy Foundation

Puppy Foundation training is an essential part of raising a well-behaved and socialized dog.

It focuses on teaching basic obedience commands, socialization with other dogs and people, as well as addressing common behavioral issues. You should be enrolling your puppy into this course the moment you bring it home.

Here are some key components we work on during Puppy Foundation training:

  1. Socialization: Introduce your puppy to various people, dogs, environments, sounds, and objects in a positive and controlled manner. This helps prevent fear and anxiety as they grow older.
  2. Basic Commands: Teach basic commands such as sit, come, down, heel,  and leave it. Use positive reinforcement techniques like treats, praise, and toys to encourage good behavior.
  3. House Training: Establish a routine for potty breaks and teach your puppy where it’s appropriate to go to the bathroom. Consistency and patience are key during this process.
  4. Leash Training: Get your puppy used to walking on a leash. Start with short walks in quiet areas and gradually increase the duration and complexity of walks.
  5. Chewing and Bite Inhibition: Making sure we introduce and Provide appropriate chew toys to satisfy your puppy’s natural urge to chew and teach bite inhibition to prevent nipping or mouthing.
  6. Crate Training: Introduce your puppy to a crate as a safe and comfortable space. Also to help with separation anxiety.
  7. Desensitization to Stimuli: Expose your puppy to various sights, sounds, and experiences to reduce the likelihood of fear or anxiety in new situations.
  8. Consistency and Patience: Remain consistent in your training methods and patient with your puppy’s progress. Remember that every dog learns at their own pace.

It’s important to start training as early as possible and maintain a positive and patient attitude throughout the process.
